Burnout Prevention and recovery Workshop for Teams and Managers
Helping employees create sustainable wellbeing
Burnout Prevention and Recovery Workshop For Organisations, Employees and Managers
At a glance: A 90-minute interactive workshop for teams or managers concerned about chronic stress and its effect on wellbeing and engagement.
Burnout doesn’t usually arrive unannounced, even if it can seem that way. The effects of unmanaged, long-term coping under sustained pressure show up cumulatively and sometimes invisibly. A capable person may still meet deadlines and support others while sleeping less restoratively, finding it harder to think clearly, feeling less engaged or needing more effort to get through an ordinary day.
What does show up more clearly is when a team member goes off sick, another hands in their notice, or when team morale has already dropped.
The Policy Liaison Group on Workplace Wellbeing has called for a change towards workplace prevention, away from reacting to workplace health problems after they have escalated. Too often, organisations recognise a problem only when it shows up as sickness absence, falling performance or someone leaving. Yet the signs of sustained strain can develop while a person is still showing up and getting the work done.
What the workshop covers
This workshop helps participants recognise that gradual pattern. It explores how stress responses can accumulate when demand continues, and recovery repeatedly falls behind.
Participants learn:
- What burnout is and how to recognise the early warning signs
- What contributes to burnout
- What changes in energy, attention, behaviour and the ability to switch off.
- Why people compensate and keep performing while becoming increasingly depleted.
- Practical opportunities for regulation and recovery during and beyond work.
- Working conditions and expectations that need attention alongside individual habits.
- Practical discussions about the realities of the working conditions that have been contributing to stress and burnout.
For manager groups, the discussion can place greater emphasis on noticing changes in a team, opening supportive conversations, and identifying demands or working practices that need to be addressed.
What Participants Leave With
Participants leave with a shared language for recognising strain, a personal check for their own early warning signs and, for manager groups, a practical approach to opening supportive conversations.
When this workshop is the right choice:
- your team has been under pressure for a prolonged period or is about to be
- burnout has already resulted in absence
- when people appear to be coping but are increasingly showing signs of strain
- when managers want a fuller understanding of the signs they may be seeing.
It gives people a shared framework for recognising the cumulative effects of strain and discussing what support or change may be needed. A workshop is one part of an organisation’s response to burnout risk; some situations will require individual support or changes beyond training.

What is your approach to burnout?
My approach draws on recovery research, including the work of Michael Kellmann, and burnout research by Christina Maslach and Michael Leiter. I bring these perspectives together with nervous system physiology to help people recognise how stress is affecting them, what in their working conditions may be contributing, and where regulation and recovery need more support.
What is the format of the workshop?
The workshop can be delivered in person (depending on location) or online.
Will this talk help with burnout symptoms for a team opertating under chronic stress?
This workshop is educational and practical, so it can help you think through how to approach things differently. If a team is chronically stressed, then lasting change may involve a team stress audit, manager coaching, employee support or further training in recovery and regulation.
Is this workshop a standalone?
Yes, it is designed to have value as a standalone subject, but can also be enhanced by adding the other workshops in the series. Stress management, burnout prevention, stress regulation and recovery are all interlinked subjects.
Can we have this training adapted to our specific team needs and industry?
Yes, please arrange a discovery call so we can go through the particular needs of your organisation, and the workshop can be tailored to your brief
Nicola Turner MSc.
Performance, Regulation and Recovery Specialist.
Perspective built from both sides of the table.
I spent ten years in corporate HR before training as a psychotherapist and spending over seventeen years working clinically with stress, mental health, nervous system regulation, and behaviour change. I also have specialist training in physiological recovery.
That combination, understanding both the organisational systems that create sustained demand and the physiological and psychological systems that determine how people cope, is what shapes this work. My interest is in what happens when capable people continue performing under sustained pressure, how to create sustainable wellbeing under high demand and what individuals and organisations can do before coping becomes depletion.
